Adventures in France - Part 2

The first time I went to Paris was on my honeymoon almost 7 years ago and coming back a second time, I realized how little I remembered about the city. What I did remember was dining out being quite the trying experience, even armed with our trusty Rick Steve's guidebook. This time round, my dining experience was much more enjoyable, thanks to my companions having done much research and planning ahead of time.

The day we arrived we had lunch reservations at Le Fin Gourmet which had been recommended to us by a foodie friend back home. I think the restaurant has received 3 Michelin stars? All three of us ordered a starter and an entree (we wanted to save room for dessert elsewhere :D ).

My starter - A vegetable "cake" accompanied by Serrano ham and mixed greens.

Next, my entree - Beef Bourguignon wrapped in puff pastry, a vegetable medley and this amazing velvety and rich sauce. As much as I enjoyed the beef, it really was just a vehicle for scooping up every last bit of the sauce :).

After lunch, as O and I were exploring the city, we stopped for tea and dessert at Laduree:

We ordered a fragrant red tea blend and an assortment of macaroons. I really can't get enough of French macaroons - but why are they so freakin' expensive???

I was leaving for home the next morning, and I had not eaten a single French crepe yet, so for dinner I had a simple meal of an egg and mushroom crepe with Emmentaler cheese. It was a perfect end to a great trip!

Au revoir France!
